“So if you are suffering in a manner that pleases God, keep on doing what is right, and trust your lives to God who created you, for he will never fail you.”
– 1 Peter 4:19
So I’ve been sitting here thinking, and trying to decide what to write about. Fridays at TLC is an outing day where everyone gets to go into the community. So they do stuff like taking all the clients to the museum, or the park to play soft ball. Well, today they had a grand relay race/triathlon planned. Isaac was helping set up and rode one of those big, fancy tricycles over to the park! Very cool of him, but the weather was so bad here in Lubbock with winds up to 50 mph, they switched to playing Frisbee golf inside. It was pretty fun, and I even got to play. Isaac was the king of threes. Almost every time he made the goal in three throws. After the game one of the therapists said, “Hey Isaac, why don’t you and Kristi do a concert for us while we wait for the others to finish.” “Alright… what do you want me to play? All I can think of right now is worship songs.” Isaac replied. “Well that’s ok! How about you pick three and… oh hey! Do you know the song, ‘Blessed Be Your Name?” Daniel (the therapist) asked. “Yeah, I know it…” Isaac said, as he started to play the piano. “Great! I love that song, we play it at my church sometimes.” A few other people gathered as Isaac and I sang the song. His voice swelled with the music at the peak of the song, and it sounded good. After that we did “Mighty To Save” and my heart was lifted by the worship. Everyone clapped and Isaac turned around to see the crowd had grown. He’s getting more confidence
And his music was really encouraging to everyone there.
He’s doing really well being off the Keppra. I praise God (and I know I write this all the time but…) I praise God that Isaac is becoming more and more himself everyday! I wish I could truly express to you how incredible it is and how much of a miracle God has done and is doing.
The thing I’m most excited about is seeing his personality and heart for the Lord coming out again. If you know Isaac well, my guess is that you’ve seen and heard him do some funny stuff. So maybe you can imagine him clasping his hands together and announcing to everyone at the table that since the salad is so delicious he’s going to do a noodle dance and then laughing at himself for saying something so silly. Or maybe you can picture him doing a “Slappy Feet” dance as he grins. That stuff makes me happy because that’s part of his joyful personality and he’s doing that stuff more and more.
“In His kindness God called you to share in His eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, He will restore, support, and strengthen you, and He will place you on a firm foundation. All power to Him forever! Amen.”
